The number one point of engagement and connecting with a customer is in person (87%), with social media coming in 5th and only 44% as effective.
If you want to be a trusted advisor, you must be able to challenge prospects. Your prospects need to hear the truth, and salespeople need the will (guts) to tell their prospects the truth.
Be careful of what you hear from “sales experts” that tell you the cold calling is dead, or some other part of sales is dead. There are two forces at play. Your own confirmation bias and the fact the “sales expert” may be selling you on their process. So, if they say cold calling is dead, use our inbound sales funnel and you hate cold calling guess what you are going to want to do.
The reason fewer people are answering is because fewer people are calling, not that fewer people are picking up the phone.
There is no silver bullet, there is no sales hack to replace prospecting. The technology helps and it makes parts of the sales process easier, but it does not replace prospecting in person.
